When reporting a problem, it helps to include your workspace or organization name, the workflow or connection involved, and roughly when the issue occurred.
2. Flywheel for Slack
The Flywheel app for Slack connects your Slack workspace to your Flywheel workflows. With it you can:
- Ask the Flywheel agent questions by @mentioning it in a channel — for example, to check on your workers or their status.
- Post messages to channels as a step in a workflow, so reports, digests, and alerts land in Slack automatically.
- Read messages from a channel as a workflow data source.
- Review and approve records in Slack when a workflow pauses for a human decision — approve, skip, or take a custom action with a button click.
3. Slack FAQ
How do I install the app?
In Flywheel, add a Slack connection and click Add to Slack. You'll be taken to Slack's authorization screen to approve the app for your workspace. Once connected, invite the bot to any channel where you want to use it. A workspace administrator may need to approve the installation.
How do I talk to the bot?
Mention the app in a channel it's been invited to — for example, @Flywheel what's the status of my workers? The bot replies in the same thread, and follow-up mentions in that thread keep their context. Some actions can only be completed in the Flywheel app itself; when that happens, the bot will let you know and point you back to Flywheel.
What is an in-Slack review?
When a workflow includes a human-review step, Flywheel can post each record to a Slack channel with action buttons. Reviewers click a button to approve, skip, or take a custom action, and the workflow resumes automatically. The message updates in place to confirm the decision.
What permissions does the app request, and why?
The app requests only the scopes it needs to provide these features:
chat:write— post messages and review prompts as the appchat:write.customize— customize the bot's name and icon per messageapp_mentions:read— receive the @mentions you send the botchannels:read, groups:read— list channels so you can pick one when configuring a workflowchannels:history, groups:history— read messages from a channel only when you configure it as a data source
Flywheel only reads from channels you explicitly configure as a workflow source, and only posts to channels you select.
How do I remove the app?
You can disconnect Slack from the connection's settings in Flywheel, or remove the app from your workspace in Slack under Settings & administration → Manage apps. Removing the app revokes its access tokens immediately. To delete data associated with a connection, contact support@flywheeletl.io.
4. Data & Privacy
Connection credentials are encrypted at rest, and Flywheel only accesses the channels and data you configure. For details on what we collect, how it's used, and your rights, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
